He was member of the Texas National Guard since 1929 and stayed after it was mobilized in 1940. The remained in the army except for a short period between October 1941 and January 1942 when he was discharged because he was older than 28 years of age. He died in North Africa.
He was pusthumously awarded a Purple Heart Medal
