He joined Texas National Guards in 1940 and after the outbreak of the war he was sent with TNG to camps and later to North Africa. He was missing in action since September 9th, 1943, when he was captured on Sicily and became German Prisoner of War. He was detained in Germany in Stalag Luft 3 Sagan-Silesia Bavaria camp and later moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser. He was liberated in June 1945.
