He enlisted to the army on Januaru 30th, 1942, and later served as a radio operator on a B-17 Flying Fortress. He was awarded the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster.
He is buried at Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, Clay County, Nebraska, USA.
