He entered active duty on 21st March 1941 and was soon sent overseas. He was severely injured in battle on 31st March 1945 and died two days later.
He lived for several years in Bohemia. After death of his mother, father decided to return to his homeland with four of his seven children and remarried. After 18 years children decided to return to the U.S. Sometime before Jerry died he was supposedly only 50 miles from his former home in Kolinec in Sumava, Bohemia.
He received Purple Heart Award.
He is buried/remembered at Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France.
